The Orange Tigers and Blue Whales love to build. They use many of our classroom materials to build intricate structures. Here are some from this week. We are working hard at sharing the toys and to work together as a team. Subham and AbdAllah made The girls built a school in our The boys built ramps for cages for their animals. classroom. their cars. Yilin and Kaitlyn built a chair. Then she added a bucket of hot water to keep her feet warm. Today was western day. They had a lot of fun building horses. Yeehaw! Jathavan, Maheer and Yahia built a garage for their cars. Our classes have been investigating and inquiring about snow. How long will it take to melt, what happens if we put water in the freezer, what are some characteristics of snow, what do we know about snow and ice, and what are our favourite winter activities. We brought snow into our classroom to have a closer look. SNOW/NEIGE: "Snow melts!" (Shreya) "We can make snow castles out of snow!" (Gavin) "It's dirty!" (Grayson) "Water is inside the snow" (Shay) "It melts when indoors or in the sun" (Keaton) "Too cold" (Savian) ICE/GLACE: "It's cold!" (Isabella) "It's hard" (Lucah) "You can break ice" (Ethan) "It can be sticky" (Mabel) We painted snowmen and then measured them using cubes and other materials found in our classroom. We labelled a snowman using our French vocabulary. Some children even printed the words on their own snowman sheet. We sequenced "How to build a snowman". And we practiced our fine motor skills by cutting, gluing, and colouring snowmen. They look beautiful on our classroom door!
The Blue Whales and Orange Tigers celebrate many different holidays. In December we had parent volunteers come to talk about their family celebrations and holidays. We learned many things about Eid, Hanukkah, Christmas, and Japanese New Year. Thank you for coming to talk to our class!
